Captive Fronting Underwriting Technician
Your Team
The Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) team is part of Allianz Commercial and creates tailored insurance solutions for corporate clients facing risks that go beyond what traditional insurance covers. We work with companies across a wide range of industries — helping them manage complex, often hard-to-place risks through creative, long-term programs. ART is a growing part of the business, and our team works closely together across underwriting, deal services, and claims to deliver for our clients. It's a great environment to continue to build your technical insurance skills and learn something new every day.
The Impact You Will Have
This role sits at the heart of how we manage the servicing and finance aspects of our Global Captive Fronting Underwriting (GCFU) portfolio. You'll work closely with GCFU Program Managers and Subject Matter Experts to make sure pre and post close activities, with special focus to finance related ones to ensure KPIs are met — acting as the key link between several teams including AGCS Multinational, ART's Global Captive Underwriting team, Deal Services, and Finance Operations, with the possibility of progressively gaining exposure to external clients.
No two days look the same. You'll be coordinating across teams and time zones, chasing down discrepancies, resolving queries, and making sure the numbers tell the right story. You'll also work alongside our ART systems experts to improve how GCFU business is captured and reflected in our platforms — meaning you'll have a real say in shaping the tools and processes the team relies on.
If you're someone who's detail-oriented, enjoys problem-solving, and thrives when working across multiple stakeholders, this is a role where your contribution will be visible and genuinely valued.
Some Of Your Specific Responsibilities Could Include
Monitoring of Transactions:
- Ensure all transactions within the assigned area(s) are properly entered into the underwriting systems.
- Coordinate information flow externally and internally and ensure ongoing internal processes on assigned transactions are followed.
- Create payments requests following Program Manager's and Underwriters' guidance and monitor inwards and outwards payments to meet either standard or specific KPIs.
- Act as liaison point between them, GCU team members, and finance.
Client Interaction
- Work with external clients to ensure we have the same risks / premiums / claims on mutual contracts.
- Support Program Manager, Underwriters to anticipate client's cash flow expectations and support underwriters in providing regular updates to retrocessionaires.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
