Carbon Originator – Voluntary & Compliance Markets – CFP Energy

About us

CFP Energy is a leading specialist in carbon and environmental markets, helping large corporate organisations to navigate complex regulatory environments and volatile market conditions.

With 20 years of experience, CFP Energy has built deep expertise across all major compliance carbon markets in Europe, including the EU and UK ETS. Operating from 9 offices across Europe, CFP Energy provides access to environmental markets alongside a broader suite of services across voluntary carbon, biofuels and financial products. The company supports businesses through market access services and tailored financial solutions that unlock liquidity and enable investment, supporting wider commercial growth.

With cross-commodity access and a fully integrated offering across environmental, biofuels, and financial services, CFP Energy acts as a strategic partner for organisations navigating the energy transition.

The Role

We are looking for a commercially driven originator to join CFP Energy’s Voluntary Carbon team within the Sales & Trading division. You will manage the full supply origination process, working closely with the sales team on pricing and execution.

You will build relationships across various types of suppliers, from project developers and funds to other intermediaries and brokers. Utilising these relationships, you will expand and maintain a live database of supply to equip the team to respond to demand efficiently. Part of this will involve scoping preferential supply and long-term offtake agreements, identifying opportunities and leading initial discussions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

From there, you will convert this access into executable opportunities, supporting back-to-back transactions, flow trading, and structured deals across VCM, CORSIA, Article 6, and carbon tax markets. As such, the role requires the ability to build, analyse and interpret financial models and translate this into clear commercial insights to inform decision making.

Negotiation is central to the role: balancing near-term commercial objectives against the long-term supplier relationships the desk depends on.

This is a front-office role in a trading-led, execution-focused environment.

Responsibilities:

Supply Origination & Market Coverage

  • Build and maintain a network across developers, funds, traders, and intermediaries, with live visibility over primary pipelines and secondary availability.
  • Originate spot, near-term, and forward opportunities aligned with client and desk demand.
  • Track developments across VCM, CORSIA, Article 6, and carbon tax markets to inform pricing and client engagement, and to identify new opportunities.

Commercial Structuring & Negotiation

  • Structure and negotiate access to supply, including offtake-style, forward, marketing and secondary transactions, securing preferential or differentiated terms where possible.
  • Align price, volume, delivery, and eligibility with trading strategies and client needs.
  • Evaluate the potential risks of each transaction, breaking down credit, market and delivery risks.
