Card Systems Specialist

Location: Canary Wharf

We are seeking a talented Card Systems Specialist to support the management, security, and continuous improvement of our payment technology estate across two retail brands and approximately 800 locations.

Working closely with the Card Systems Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting card payment solutions, loyalty integrations, payment terminals, and associated technologies. You'll act as a technical expert for payment systems, helping to ensure our services remain secure, compliant, resilient, and fit for the future.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in payments, card processing, or fintech who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where they can influence change and make a real impact.

Responsibilities

  • Support the operation and ongoing development of our card payment ecosystem across a large multi-site retail estate.
  • Provide expert support and troubleshooting for payment terminals, payment gateways, switching services, loyalty platforms, and mobile payment solutions.
  • Manage and coordinate payment-related incidents, problems, and service improvements.
  • Work with third-party suppliers and technology partners to ensure high levels of service and performance.
  • Support the delivery of payment projects, technology upgrades, and new payment capabilities.
  • Collaborate with business and technology teams to gather requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
  • Assist in maintaining PCI DSS compliance and supporting payment security initiatives, including P2PE programmes.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging payment technologies, recommending opportunities for improvement and innovation.

Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years' experience within a fintech, payments, card processing, or payment technology environment.
  • Strong understanding of card payment ecosystems, including card schemes, acquirers, payment gateways, payment terminals, and transaction processing.
  • A good understanding of networking technologies to support payment processing.
  • Experience working within PCI DSS-regulated environments, with PCI certification highly desirable.
  • Understanding of loyalty card acceptance and loyalty platform integrations.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience delivering technology or business change initiatives.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Confidence to influence decisions, and confidently engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and incident management capabilities.
  • Experience with vendor management of third-party suppliers and service providers.

Desirable Experience

  • PCI Professional (PCIP) or other relevant payment industry certification.
  • Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE) experience.
  • Experience within retail, hospitality, fuel retail, or other multi-site environments.
  • Exposure to mobile payment applications and customer-facing digital solutions.
  • Knowledge of API integrations and cloud-based payment technologies.
  • PRINCE2, Agile, PMP, Scrum, or ITIL certifications.
