Clinical Audit Officer Opportunity in Cardiac Services

Due to retirement, an exciting opportunity has arisen in the Cardiac services department for a Clinical Audit Officer to join our team.

The successful individual will collect patient admission data to support benchmarking with best practice for the National Cardiac Outcome Research Centre UK. Working with the cardiac specialist nurse teams and the NCA audit department to evidence the key performance metrics that report standards of cardiac care delivered. We are looking for a candidate with proven experience of clinical audit and excels in analytic data collection, excel, and pivot tables with high concentration levels and attention to detail, with experience of working to targets. Ideally, the candidate will have and demonstrate understanding of National Heart Failure Audit and Myocardial Ischaemia National Audit Project. Previous experience of working within NCA IT structures is desirable but all training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Use their own initiative.
  • Guide in planning and implementing the delivery of the National, regional, and Alliance agenda.
  • Undertake governance activity where required, production, and dissemination of data in a variety of reporting methods.
  • Retrieve raw data from a variety of sources, medical records, and hospital information systems to record and analyse data, report and present at national, regional, and Alliance level.
  • Maintain current data systems to ensure that data collection is accurate, timely, and complete and support the development of new systems.
  • Provide and maintain established procedures for data validation and statistical analysis.
  • Compile reports of relevant analysis/findings through both written reports and oral presentations.
  • Represent the Directorate at meetings pertinent to current projects.
  • Manage and prioritise work in line with agreed schedules.
  • Attend national, regional, and local meetings as required and feedback as appropriate.
  • Be aware of and maintain the confidentiality of all information.
  • Participate in the training of staff throughout the organisation in data collection, data systems, reporting, and be part of developing the service further, including basic governance principles.
  • Take responsibility for the health and safety of the post holder and others affected by their acts.
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade as required.
