Role Overview

The successful candidate will participate closely in all activities within the Directorate of Cardiothoracic Surgery, being directly accountable to the consultant staff. Roles will include participation in the pre-, intra- and post-operative management of patients under consultant supervision with specific focus on robotic surgical program. In addition, active participation in the academic program is seen as an important opportunity for personal development. Audit and service evaluation projects will be expected to be undertaken.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participation in ongoing daytime care of inpatients.
  • Commitment to out-of-hours responsibilities, including initial assessment and management of acutely ill patients.
  • Rotation through CICU for experience in a high-dependency setting.
  • Weekly commitment to the outpatient service with appropriate support.
  • Support the consultant body in the comprehensive management of patients with diseases of the heart, lungs, and other chest organs.
