Support Worker for Young Woman in Malvern
About the Role
Support one young woman to live independently in her own brand-new bungalow in Malvern. Permanent full-time, part-time and night opportunities available.
Could you support a young woman to live independently, make her own choices and enjoy life in her own home?
We’re looking for warm, confident and experienced Support Workers to join a brand-new service opening in Malvern at the end of October.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a new team from the very beginning, supporting a young woman with cerebral palsy as she settles into her own bungalow and builds the independent life she wants.
She has full capacity and is at the heart of decisions about her life and support. She is non-verbal and requires support with personal care, communication, mobility and moving and handling.
But this role is about much more than providing care.
It’s about supporting someone to live her life.
Whether that's going shopping, getting out and about, spending time doing the things she enjoys or simply having a relaxed day at home, you'll provide support in a way that promotes choice, independence and control.
What You'll Be Doing
- Personal care delivered with dignity, sensitivity and respect
- Moving and handling
- Understanding and responding to her preferred methods of communication
- Getting out into the community, including shopping and other activities she chooses
- Day-to-day life within her own home
- Promoting independence rather than doing things for her
- Supporting her choices, preferences and routines
- Creating a safe, comfortable and positive home environment
- Above all, you'll take the time to get to know her as an individual and understand how she wants to be supported.

Who We're Looking For
Previous experience in care or support would be particularly valuable for this role. Experience supporting someone with cerebral palsy, physical disabilities, communication needs and/or moving and handling would be an advantage, although most important is your approach.
You'll need to be:
- Kind, patient and respectful
- Confident providing personal care
- Comfortable supporting someone with moving and handling needs
- Able to build trust while respecting boundaries
- A good communicator who understands that communication isn't always verbal
- Reliable and able to work as part of a small team
- Focused on what someone can do, rather than what they can't
- Genuinely committed to person-centred support
A full UK driving licence would be preferable, and we would particularly welcome applicants who are willing and confident to drive company vehicles. However, a driving licence is not essential.

Working Pattern
We have permanent full-time and part-time opportunities available, as well as opportunities to work nights.
Day shifts will include:
- Earles
- Lates
- Alternate weekends
The service is based in Malvern, Worcestershire, in a newly established bungalow opening at the end of October.

Occupational Requirement
This position is open to female applicants only due to the personal and intimate care requirements of the woman being supported. An Occupational Requirement applies to this post under the Equality Act 2010.

Salary: £12.99 p/hr weekdays and £16.24 p/hr at weekends
