Role Description
The Care Assistant role at Care Cymru is a full-time, on-site position based in Swansea. The Care Assistant will provide personal care and practical support to individuals, including assistance with washing, dressing, mobility, and eating, while respecting each person’s privacy and choices. - Supporting people with dementia and other care needs
- Observing and reporting changes in wellbeing
- Following care plans accurately
- Helping with manual handling tasks using appropriate techniques and equipment
- Maintaining clear communication with colleagues, individuals, and families
- Keeping records up to date
- Contributing to a safe, clean environment
- Working shifts including evenings and weekends as needed
- Participating in ongoing training to maintain high-quality care

Qualifications
- Strong caregiving skills, including experience or interest in providing personal care and support to individuals in a care setting.
- Knowledge or experience in dementia care, with an understanding of person-centered approaches and compassionate support for memory-related conditions.
- Proficiency in manual handling techniques, including safe use of mobility aids and adherence to health and safety guidelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, listen actively, and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to follow care plans, maintain accurate documentation, and observe and report changes in an individual’s condition.
- Reliability, patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting people to live well and with dignity.
- Willingness to work full-time on-site in Swansea, including potential evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
- Relevant care-related qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Health and Social Care) or willingness to work toward them; previous experience in a care environment is an advantage.
