Who are Leuchie?
Leuchie is a national respite charity dedicated to giving families a break from the physical and emotional responsibilities of caring for a loved one. The charity supports individuals and families living with neurological conditions such as MS, MND, Parkinson's, and stroke through short respite breaks at Leuchie House in East Lothian, as well as outreach services. Leuchie is the only charity in the UK to combine specialist nursing, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy with healthcare technology. Its services focus on proactively improving health, re-enabling independence, and reducing loneliness for people with neurological conditions and those who care for them, while offering meaningful respite for families.
What's the role?
The Care Assistant role at Leuchie is a full-time or part-time, on-site position based in North Berwick. The Care Assistant will provide person-centered support to guests with neurological conditions, including assistance with personal care, mobility, and daily living activities.

Responsibilities
- Helping guests participate in social and recreational activities
- Supporting therapy and wellbeing programs
- Promoting dignity, choice, and independence at all times
- Monitoring and recording relevant information
- Following care plans
- Communicating effectively with the multidisciplinary team, guests, and their families
Care Assistants are expected to contribute to a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment, adhering to all safeguarding, health and safety, and infection control standards.
With a range of hours available, the role can work well around university, family life or other commitments.
