Foundation Apprenticeship in Care
Foundation apprenticeships are introductory courses that help young people get started in an industry. You do not need to have any specific qualifications or experience to apply.
Anyone between 16 and 21 can start a foundation apprenticeship. If you're between 22 and 24, you can start if you:
- Have an EHC plan
- Are in care or have been in care
- Are in prison or have been in prison

Role Overview
This role involves providing personal care to clients.
Wage
- £16,640 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age
- National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices
- Once completed, you will move to Level 3.
- Once level 3 is completed you will be on a wage of £13.20 per hour.
Training
Training Course: Health and social care foundation apprenticeship (level 2)
Hours: Shifts are 6.00am - 3.00pm and 4.00pm - 10.00pm. Weekend work will be in the rota. 40 hours a week
Start Date: Sunday 1 November 2026
Duration: 8 months

What You'll Do at Work
- Personal Care: Help clients with washing, bathing, showering, dressing, grooming, and toileting or continence care.
- Medication Support: Prompt or assist clients to take prescribed medicines following care plans.
- Meals and Nutrition: Prepare meals, support with eating and drinking, and handle basic grocery shopping.
- Household Support: Assist with light domestic duties such as laundry, tidying, and keeping the living space safe.
- Companionship and Community: Provide emotional support, talk with clients, and help them get out or take part in social activities.

Prudent Domiciliary Care is looking for a friendly, organised, and motivated Care Assistant Apprentice to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone beginning their career who would like to gain practical care experience while completing a recognised apprenticeship qualification. We particularly welcome applications from school or college leavers aged 17–19.
