Job Description

Our personalised care services help our clients remain safe and comfortable within their own home. All our clients are wonderfully unique; it’s lovely to spend time listening to their stories and lives. As a carer your care visits may include:

  • Personal Care – helping someone to get up in a morning, the usual things we all may need a little help with at some time in our lives, supporting with washing, grooming, continence care and getting dressed.
  • Companionship – conversation and good company - assist with writing letters and enjoying a chat, shopping and much more
  • Activities – accompanying to outings and social events such as a local friendship lunch club and to encourage hobbies and pastimes
  • Plan, prepare and cook nutritious food - rediscovering favourite family recipes
  • Medication – collecting prescriptions, medication reminders
  • Light housekeeping – ensuring their home is spotless, safe, tidy

Many of our clients live in rural and remote locations where public transport is limited or unavailable. As a result, the successful candidate will need to be able to travel reliably and independently to and from clients' homes, which may be in areas that are difficult to access by public transport. Travel may be required during early mornings, evenings and periods of reduced daylight.

Applicants should carefully consider whether they can meet the travel requirements of the role before applying.


Qualifications

At Home Instead we value a kind, compassionate heart above all else. We provide full, paid training for all our Care Professionals as standard, although you may not have had formal care training any previous care or personal experiences are always very welcome.

As many of our clients are based in rural locations, access to reliable transportation is essential.


Additional Information

What we offer:

  • We believe in person-centred care for our clients, which means all our visits are a minimum of 1 hour, to give plenty of time to complete tasks and get to know your client.
  • We love to match our care staff to our clients based on mutual interests and hobbies and you will consistently see the same clients each time. Average hour contracts are available.
  • Paid mileage at 0.45p per mile after your first 5 miles
  • Paid waiting time - If you have 60 minutes or less between two clients we will pay you £12.75 to wait
  • Elevated pay rate – Monday to Friday 5pm to 9am £14.00, Saturday and Sunday 5pm-9am £15.00
  • Fully paid, comprehensive training with opportunities for additional courses and NVQs as you work
  • Full on-the-job support from a dedicated and friendly care management team
  • Free Full Enhanced DBS
  • Employee referral scheme – up to £225 per referral.
  • Care Professional Workshops where you can meet other care professionals put a face to the name that you will often see in your client’s notes
  • Employee discounts program, including exclusive discounts at major high street stores
  • Free access to our Employee Assistance Programme (for healthcare advice, counselling sessions and financial wellbeing resources)
  • Our staff do not wear uniform all we ask is that you dress professionally
  • Weekends are important so you have every other weekend free
