Job Description
Cera are recruiting part-time Care Assistants for our Extra Care service in Bramble Court, South Shields.
Are you kind? A people person? Do you love making a difference in people's lives? Then we can offer you the perfect role as a Carer, where you will genuinely make a difference every day. No experience required.
We are recruiting for part-time permanent positions only. This is secure work with good pay, great training, and no previous experience needed.
Applicants must be fully flexible and able to work both 7am–3pm and 3pm–10pm shifts, including alternate weekends.
Extra Care units offer residents their own self-contained living space within a larger building, with access to care staff who are based on site. As a Care Assistant, you will support residents—each with varying needs—to live as independently as possible, following personalised care and support plans.
Every client’s needs are different. You may assist with light housework, help someone get ready for the day, prepare a hot meal, offer companionship, support with medication, or help with washing and dressing. More than anything, our carers become trusted companions—offering encouragement, reassurance and sometimes a much-needed laugh when life feels tough. Caring isn’t always easy, but many people and their families will be grateful that you were there.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
