Role Description

The Care Assistant role is an on-site position based in Banbury. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Providing person-centered care and support with daily living activities such as washing, dressing, toileting, mobility, and nutrition.
  • Helping to promote independence, dignity, safety, and comfort.
  • Observing and reporting any changes in a person’s physical or emotional wellbeing.
  • Offering companionship.
  • Engaging individuals in meaningful activities.
  • Supporting those living with conditions such as dementia.

Care Assistants work as part of a wider care team, follow care plans and health and safety procedures, and maintain accurate, confidential records of care delivered.

Qualifications

  • Strong caregiving skills, including experience providing personal care and support with daily living tasks.
  • High-level interpersonal and communication abilities to build trust, listen actively, and collaborate effectively with individuals, families, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in supporting people living with dementia or cognitive impairments, using compassionate and person-centered approaches.
  • Competence in safe manual handling techniques, including assisting with mobility and use of equipment in line with training and health and safety standards.
  • Relevant care-related training or qualifications (e.g., NVQ/QCF in Health and Social Care or equivalent) or willingness to work towards them.
  • Ability to follow care plans, work reliably within set procedures, and maintain accurate documentation and confidentiality.
  • Reliability, empathy, patience, and a genuine motivation to support people to live well in their own homes or care settings.
  • Flexibility to work a range of shifts as required, and eligibility to work in the UK with any necessary checks and clearances (e.g., DBS).
