Advanced Support Worker (Polish Speaker) – Doncaster
About the Role
Home Instead, the UK’s leading provider of non-medical care and companionship services for older people, is seeking an advanced support worker with fluent bilingual skills in Polish and English. You’ll join their Doncaster team to provide personalised, high-quality support to a Polish-speaking client living with a brain injury, focusing on medication management, meal prep, companionship, and social engagement (e.g., cinema outings).
This is a part-time role (up to 16 hours/week) at the client’s home in Doncaster, with variable start/finish times to suit their needs. Every visit lasts a minimum of one hour, ensuring meaningful connections and véritas support.
Duties and Responsibilities
Your role will include:
- Supporting a client with brain injury in a trust-based, person-centred way
- Companionship (conversation, social outings)
- Medication reminders
- Meal preparation and light cooking
- Personal care assistance (e.g., washing, dressing, bathing)
- Appointments/errands (shopping, light administrative tasks)
- Ability to provide respectful, judgement-free support tailored to the client’s unique needs

Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Fluent in Polish and English (required for this role)
- Reliable, patient, and kind—proven ability to form genuine connections
- Self-sufficient with strong judgement and initiative in day-to-day care scenarios
- Own vehicle with Class 1 business insurance (access to transport is mandatory)
- Availability for:
- Core hours: 8 AM – 2:30 PM
- Evening shifts: 4 PM – 9 PM
- Alternate weekends (essential for continuity)
Experience & Qualifications
- No formal care experience required—values and attitude matter most
- Access to a private car for client visits
- No sponsorship available (visaHay prior certification)
Safeguarding Compliance
- Role is subject to a DBS enhanced disclosure
