Job Title: Care Group Clinical Lead in Trauma and Orthopaedics

Start Date: October 2026

Contract Type: Fixed term

Duration: 36 months

Purpose for Fixed Term: Internal secondment

Main duties of the job

UHS MTC are seeking an experienced and motivated Trauma & Orthopaedics Consultant to take on the role of T&O Clinical Lead. This is an exciting opportunity to provide visible clinical leadership within a large, high-performing Trauma & Orthopaedics service, supporting the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred care. You will work collaboratively with clinical and operational colleagues to drive service improvement and support the continued development of our major trauma and orthopaedic pathways.

You will take an active role in shaping the future direction of the T&O and Major Trauma Centre service, helping to translate clinical priorities into practical improvements. This will include supporting pathway development, strengthening links with partner specialties and helping teams adopt new approaches that improve the experience and outcomes of patients with complex trauma and orthopaedic needs.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

You will be an established Consultant with the credibility, judgement and confidence to lead within a complex clinical environment. You will need to demonstrate sound clinical experience, strong communication skills and the ability to build constructive working relationships across teams and specialties.

We are looking for someone who is forward-thinking, collaborative and able to balance strategic service development with the practical realities of frontline care. You should be comfortable using evidence, data and clinical insight to support improvement, and be committed to maintaining high standards of safety, quality and patient experience.

Additional Information

The successful candidate will be employed under the terms and conditions of service for Consultants (England) 2003.

Proposed interview date: 15th September 2026
