About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Children’s Commissioning Team. As a key member of our Children’s Commissioning team, you’ll be instrumental in supporting Care leavers maintain their rent accounts and sustain their tenancies before they progress to independent living arrangements.

This is a new role which will involve maximising income for internal budgets whilst working with stakeholders to develop and implement processes and procedures that ensure Care Leavers do not accrue rent arrears or council tax debts.

You’ll drive value for money through strategic planning, commissioning, and service redesign, working closely with Finance Teams, internal Revenue and Benefits services and external providers.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In

The Children’s Commissioning Team work closely with a range of internal Council Teams, external service providers and partners across the Health, Social Care and Education systems. The overall team leads on a range of strategic Council Priorities for Children and Young People and is made up of both a strategic and an operational functions. The team has a wide range of roles including Commissioners, Contracts Officer, Placement and Quality Assurance Officers. A key aim of the team is to support Children and Young People to achieve their best outcomes and achieve their potential, whilst simultaneously ensuring the Council achieves value for money from the services it commissions. This role will report directly to the Head of Commissioning and attend and report to various Board meetings.

About You

You are committed to improving the lives of Children and Young People and their parents and/or carer’s, through good quality services that meet local need and align with the Council’s goals. You understand the range of inequalities experienced by young people and can advocate effectively for young people and their families, addressing inequalities and driving value for money in planning and service redesign. You have strong communication skills, you engage effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, and always maintain confidentiality. You have a proactive, flexible, responsive approach, always seeking to provide the highest levels of customer service. You can work autonomously and creatively, generating new ideas to improve service delivery. An ability to process and understand key legislation and duties of the local authority.
