About the Role
This is a 37 hours per week role, which is hybrid with some office-based work in Newport or surrounding areas to attend meetings but mostly working from home. A 9-day fortnight (74 hours over 9 working days) is a possibility for this role also.
This is a busy and varied role where you'll be at the heart of service delivery, ensuring care rotas are planned effectively and resources are deployed safely and efficiently.
You'll work closely with managers and operational colleagues, helping to coordinate shifts, maintain service information, monitor performance data, and provide essential administrative support across the Care Directorate.
You'll also:
- Manage and maintain care rotas and service information.
- Respond quickly to changing staffing requirements and help ensure shifts are safely covered.
- Support managers with reporting, data analysis, and service planning.
- Monitor agency usage, service delivery, and compliance requirements.
- Build strong relationships with operational teams to help deliver the best possible outcomes for the people we support.
- Play a key role in raising and processing invoices related to agency usage.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
