Summary
Care Worker – Extra Care Service (Burry Port)
We're looking for caring, compassionate, and enthusiastic individuals to join our Extra Care team in Burry Port. We have 20-hour, 30-hour, and relief/bank opportunities available. As our service operates 24/7, flexibility is essential. Shifts include mornings, afternoons, evenings, waking nights, day centre hours, and alternate weekends. This isn't just a care role, it's an opportunity to have a real impact on people's lives. Every day brings the chance to help someone build confidence, rediscover an old hobby, achieve a personal goal, or simply enjoy a moment that puts a smile on their face.
You could be encouraging someone to join an activity they've avoided for years, sharing stories over a cup of tea, supporting a baking session, leading a quiz, or helping someone remain independent in their own home. The moments may seem small, but to the people we support, they can mean everything.
We're looking for people who bring warmth, positivity, and personality. People who genuinely enjoy connecting with others, who listen, encourage, and find creative ways to make each day engaging and meaningful. You'll be confident working independently while also contributing to a close-knit and supportive team. What You'll Be Doing
As a Care Worker, you'll take a person-centred approach to supporting individuals to live fulfilling and independent lives.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Providing involved personal care with dignity and respect
- Supporting with mobility, including the use of stand aids and hoists
- Assisting with medication administration in line with MAR charts and procedures
- Preparing meals and supporting with nutrition and hydration
- Supporting individuals with daily routines and personal goals
- Encouraging participation in activities such as arts and crafts, baking, quizzes, and community involvement
- Building positive relationships and offering emotional support
- Maintaining accurate records using our electronic care planning system, Nourish
- Completing daily notes and handovers to ensure continuity of care
- Responding to emergencies and wellbeing checks for sheltered accommodation tenants
Skills And Experience Needed
A background of working with people with physical or mental health needs is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided.

Pay And Benefits
- £25,178 FTE (£13.45 per hour)
- Sleep-in rate: £62.64 per 8 hour shift - approx. 1 per week
- Waking night rate: 20% Enhancement from 11pm to 7am
- Enhanced DBS which we will pay for
- Social Care Wales registration is fully reimbursed
