Training course: Adult care worker (level 2)
Hours: Shifts in between hours of 7am- 10pm. 40 hours a week
Start date: Tuesday 20 October 2026

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- To work alongside and assist the Senior Carers and Team Leaders
- When required liaise with Social Workers, District Nurses and other agency professionals
- Contribute towards communicating changes to rotas and client requirements within the community
- Ensure that you work within the departments policies and procedures
- Attending training and expanding your personal development
- Assist clients as appropriate with their personal needs, such as dressing, washing, supervising bathing, toileting and feeding as detailed in the Care Plan
- Assist clients with, or where necessary carry out light housework, such as dusting, sweeping, vacuuming carpets, cleaning living rooms, kitchens, bathrooms and toilets, polishing furniture using dusters and mops, washing and ironing clothing and bed linen, preparing and cooking meals
- As detailed in the Care Plan, encourage clients to undertake personal care and domestic tasks which they are capable of, recognising that their abilities may change, in some circumstances, on a day-to-day basis
- Undertake shopping, collect pensions, pay bills and deal with mail (if listed on the Care Plan) and provide validated receipts for expenditure of client’s money
- Interaction with clients and their families
- Liaising with other areas of the organisation, including adherence to the rules, regulations and guidelines for good practice
- Liaising with the manager of establishments whilst being employed by First City Nursing Services

Essential qualifications
- GCSE in: English (grade 2)
- Maths (grade 2)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
