Qualification - Degree in property/surveying
Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.
The role is to provide assistance to all aspects of the Development and Investment Service as part of the Growth and Development Directorate covering all parts of the City. You will be an integral part of a highly professional team that provides development and investment property advice. You will feed into regeneration schemes, development proposals and manages the Council’s investment portfolio. All whilst adopting the Council’s growth ambitions, policies and strategies.
We Are Seeking Two Career Minded Property Graduates Looking To Develop a Future Career In Property. Are You The Candidate Who Can
- Provide professional assistance and advice to Surveyors, Senior Surveyors and the Director. Carrying out and undertake fee earning professional work, relevant to the position.
- Help with the delivery and maintenance of an efficient and professional Property Service.
- Adopt a range of activities from the day-to-day management of the Investment Estate or Development Team.
- Have your own caseload which you need to manage.
- Help with internal client needs such as Strategic Housing acquisitions and disposals. Also, work alongside and assist the Development team on delivery of its regeneration objectives.
This Opportunity Will Provide You With The Ability To
- Work in a professional property office alongside a dedicated team who will mentor and assist.
- Gain the relevant experience and progress to become Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
The Growth and Development Directorate is the service which underpins the Council’s priorities for the growth and regeneration of the city. It provides organisational leadership and accountability for major development citywide to provide new homes, commercial, retail, cultural space. Also, the delivery of jobs to sustain Manchester’s economic growth.
The Development and Investment Team is responsible for facilitating and assisting with high profile development schemes. This provides a very interesting and varied workload, presenting an exciting opportunity for the right candidate. Allowing them to work on key development and regeneration projects, being involved with the Council’s financial and new housing ambitions towards delivering 32,000 new homes, including 6,400 affordable, increased social value benefits, providing 1,565 additional supported accommodation and homelessness units. Also, promoting the city’s Economic Growth agenda through the use of assets and supporting the MCC’s Climate Change Action. The Team manages the Council's investment property portfolio which has industrial, office, and retail.

The candidate will hold a relevant degree and some knowledge of property investment and development. You will be aiming to progress to full professional membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). The candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team within a high-pressure professional environment.
A good working knowledge of the Manchester commercial and residential property markets would be preferable, along with good negotiating and influencing skills. The ability to build positive working relationships and excellent analytical skills to support problem solving of a highly complex nature and deliver practical solutions are key to the role.
