We are recruiting for a skilled Applications Engineer to join the Matsuura Team. This is an exciting and varied role, supporting both pre and post sales activities. You will play a key role in delivering customer training on CNC machine operation and programming, supporting projects and providing technical application support.

This is a full time, permanent position operating from our modern Leicestershire facility. The role offers the opportunity to work with customers across the UK and includes regular travel and overnight stays as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commission and setup CNC machines ready for production
  • Deliver comprehensive customer training
  • Apply production engineering expertise to develop processes that maximise output, efficiency and machine performance
  • Problem solving and technical support
  • Experience with tool selection, fixturing, work holding, and cutting tool optimisation
  • Identify opportunities for product and process improvement

About You

The successful candidate must have an engineering background in machine tools, gained through experience with a manufacturer or distributor of CNC machining centres, or in a role involving CNC programming and operation.

Technical Competencies

  • Experienced in operating and programming 4-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines
  • Conversant with FANUC controls, both programming and operating
  • CADCAM software experience
  • Strong knowledge of production engineering principles and practices
  • Time-served engineer with a solid engineering background preferred
  • Competent in reading engineering drawing

Personal Attributes

  • Confident working independently or as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and provide clear technical guidance and training
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of quality, health and safety, and professionalism at all times
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional departments
  • Full UK driving licence and willing to travel extensively to customer sites across the UK
