Careers & Induction Specialist – £38,500 per annum plus car allowance
We’re looking for an Induction and Career Specialist to join our Learning & Development team and help create an outstanding start for our pub leaders and teams. This role will focus on designing and delivering engaging induction experiences for General Managers, Head Chefs and other key pub roles, as well as supporting career development programmes that help our people grow their skills and progress their careers with Marston’s.
Whether you’re already part of Marston’s or looking to bring your hospitality experience to us, you’ll play a key role in making sure our induction feels practical, relevant and truly connected to life in our pubs. To do that well, we need someone who understands both front and back of house operations and can use that knowledge to deliver learning that really resonates with our teams.
You’ll work closely with operational stakeholders, the wider training team and HR partners to shape learning that supports a seamless career journey from day one. From induction through to progression pathways, your work will help our people understand what great looks like, build confidence in their roles and see that a career at Marston’s is one worth staying for.
Previous Learning & Development experience would be a bonus, but it isn’t essential. What matters most is that you bring strong hospitality knowledge, a growth mindset and a genuine curiosity about how people learn. If you’re confident sharing your experience, open to trying new ideas and passionate about helping others succeed, we can support you to build your L&D skills.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
