Carer (bank) - Little Harbour, Cornwall
Hours: Adhoc hours (including weekdays, weekends, nights and bank holidays)
Salary: From £13.19 per hour (plus enhancements for night, weekend and bank holiday working)
“Happy, amazing, special and fun” are perhaps not the first words that spring to mind when you think of a children’s hospice but this is exactly how our families describe our hospices. Matched by our staff feeling “proud, rewarded and making a difference” by working in this special setting, this is perhaps quite a different carers role to what you might have expected.
About Us
We are an established and successful charity providing hospice care for children with life limiting conditions and their families in the South West of England. We aim to recruit passionate, friendly and enthusiastic staff who are motivated to really make a difference to the lives of the children and families who visit us.
What You Will Be Doing
We have a vacancy to join the Bank Care Team at Little Harbour. Applicants should be experienced in caring for children with life-limiting conditions, complex needs or chronic illnesses. We provide respite, palliative and bereavement care for children with life-limiting conditions on a one-to-one basis. Having the time to build relationships with children and their families whilst they are at the hospice and between visits helps to make our roles incredibly fulfilling.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
