Salary: Competitive – from £28,645 per annum
Are you a hands-on, proactive individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment? Surbiton High School is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Caretaker to join our dedicated team.
As part of our professional Caretaking Team, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of our 12 school sites, supporting everything from day-to-day maintenance to larger improvement projects during school holidays. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a vibrant school community where no two days are the same.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the safety and security of pupils, staff and visitors across all school sites.
- Assisting with opening and closing procedures, responding to emergencies, and supporting fire safety practices.
- Carrying out minor repairs, general maintenance, and ensuring the school grounds are clean and well-presented.
- Helping with deliveries, setting up for school events, and liaising with contractors.
- Contributing to planned maintenance and refurbishment projects during school holidays.

What We’re Looking For
- Experience in a caretaking or maintenance role is desirable.
- Practical skills in general repairs and maintenance.
- A flexible, can-do attitude and a strong commitment to health and safety.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Computer literacy and a willingness to learn (First Aid and machinery training can be provided).
