Base Salary: £12.91 per hour
Essentials:
- The ability to drive is essential for this post.
- Basic maintenance and repair skills (e.g., plumbing, painting, joinery).
- A strong awareness of health and safety regulations (e.g., COSHH, fire safety) will be needed for this role.
- Effective communication and time management skills and a proactive and problem-solving mindset.
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2 in Maintenance or equivalent is desirable.
- A full clean licence.

Full job description
Join our passionate team at M&D Care as a temporary Caretaker for 3 months in our specialist residential service, Hirwaun in Aberdare and make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable adults and the quality of their environment. At M&D Care, we support individuals with complex mental health needs, learning disabilities, and neurodevelopmental conditions across South and West Wales. We're proud to deliver innovative, person-centred services—and we know that behind every exceptional service is a safe, welcoming environment. This service is located in Hirwaun.

We’re looking for a proactive and hands-on Caretaker to help us maintain high standards in one of our specialist care homes. Your work will directly contribute to the comfort and well-being of those we support, helping create a safe space where people can truly thrive.
M&D Care are an established family-oriented business, which is run by a passionate team of professionals who deliver specialist, complex and bespoke care services throughout Southwest Wales for people with Learning Disability, Physical Disability and Mental Health needs. Role and Responsibilities:
- Carrying out daily maintenance and minor repair tasks—keeping everything ticking smoothly
- Conducting regular checks on buildings, vehicles, safety equipment, and outdoor areas
- Supporting refurbishments, liaising with contractors, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations
- Keeping everything secure, clean, and calming—for residents, visitors, and staff alike
