Caretaker Handyman - 15 hours per week, term-time only

Our brilliant team is expanding and we're looking for a caretaker/handyman to join our site team at our school based on Monkton Park, Dorchester. You'll be a key member of staff as you assist the site manager in the day to day security, safety and maintenance of our school. We’re looking for someone who enjoys DIY and small decorating jobs, to ensure that our school always looks as clean and tidy as it possibly can! You should also enjoy gardening as we continue to improve our outside areas. (No major grounds maintenance is required).

You will have daily contact with your colleagues, contractors and our wonderful pupils and it is therefore important that you are friendly and understanding of the modern-day challenges that young people face. No two days will be the same! We anticipate that the hours of work will be 2.30 - 5.30 pm daily, as this will enable DIY jobs to be carried out without interruption, after the pupils have finished for the day.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Dorchester Learning Centre educates pupils aged between 5 - 16, who can't access mainstream education for a variety of reasons. This might be for medical reasons or an SEMH need or dual registered placements with a mainstream school. We are the only school in Dorset with the Trauma Informed School accreditation. We are a learning community that is child centred, putting the needs of our pupils first.

We passionately believe that happy, highly respected employees are vital for the smooth running of our school. We therefore take the wellbeing of our staff very seriously and ensure that they all maintain a healthy work-life balance. Successful candidates will be prepared to work hard and respond to the daily challenges of school life but won’t have any unreasonable demands placed upon them.
