Job Description - External

We are recruiting for Cargo Operations Manager based in London Heathrow.

The selected candidate will be responsible for smooth cargo operations at the UK&I Region through close coordination, supervision and negotiation with the GHA’s, local service providers and staff within the stations. Continuously monitor and develop adherence to regulations outlined by local authorities, regulatory bodies and ensure strict compliance to IATA regulations for effective moment of inbound and outbound cargo whilst reducing operational costs involved, whilst continually improving customer satisfaction.

Accountabilities

  • Make recommendations and suggestions to enhance services offered whilst reducing operational costs incurred in the region. Further be a part of the airline operating committee to address infrastructure issues etc.
  • Implement, establish and monitor standard operating procedures (SOP) with the GHA’s in the region to ensure smooth cargo operations with consistently high levels of quality. This also includes Streamlining polices with GHA staff in order to follow procedures in the absence of cargo staff at the respective station.
  • Manage KPI and Service Level Agreements with the service providers and / or GHAs in local markets to ensure the operational performance meets QR’s required service levels.
  • In collaboration with Station and Regional Head, manage the station / region’s ground handling activities and ensure that they are carried out on a cost effective, efficient and safe manner.
  • Ensure discrepancies and non-conformances are minimized in order to reduce claims and penalties at the respective station to increase customer satisfaction and reduce carrier liability.
  • Ensure management of Safety, Security, and Operational compliance matters in the local markets.
  • Establish strong contacts with authorities and regulatory bodies. Liaise with local Government/ Customs Authorities to obtain permissions and to comply with regulatory issues related to Cargo operations.
  • Maintain aircraft on time performance and ensure no delays occur due to ground operations.
  • Ensure constant evaluation of best industry practices, detecting those that can add value to the operation.
  • Support RFP (request of proposal) with HQ, Contracts and Procurement for existing or new operation.
  • Ensure smooth working relations between local Cargo Staff and Airport Services Manager and that efficiency is achieved through ensuring well maintained and clear station agreements and Local Operating Procedure in place to safeguard a smooth operation.

Qualifications - External

  • High school qualification/ Vocational Qualification/ Diploma or Equivalent with minimum 5 years of job-related experience
  • Strong experience in Airfreight Sales Management
  • Ability to build relationships and influence.
  • Commercial acumen and ability to identify market and industry trends.
