About The Role

We are recruiting for Cargo Services Warehouse Operatives (Perishable Goods) to join our team at Glasgow Prestwick Airport, supporting the continued expansion of our cargo operations. Our Cargo Services team play a vital role in keeping global supply chains moving.

As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the safe, secure, and efficient handling of perishable import and export cargo, with particular emphasis on fresh salmon shipments. This position offers an opportunity to play an important role in maintaining high operational standards, ensuring all goods are prepared, stored, and dispatched in full compliance with airline requirements and regulatory obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with receiving, unloading, checking, and storing perishable export cargo
  • Move shipments safely using pallet trucks
  • Label cargo (e.g. salmon boxes) with correct AWB documentation
  • Prepare shipments for screening and export build processes
  • Build and handle cargo onto aircraft pallets following airline requirements
  • Prepare pallets using polythene and absorbent sheeting
  • Assemble, load, weigh, secure, and cover export cargo using industry equipment (nets, straps, etc)
  • Identify and report damaged cargo, completing required documentation
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness and a safe working environment
  • Monitor cargo shortages and report discrepancies
  • Assist with breaking down import pallets
  • Operate equipment such as polythene bailers safely

Safety, Security & Compliance

  • Follow all health & safety regulations and airport procedures
  • Maintain a strong awareness of cargo security requirements
  • Ensure only authorised personnel access bonded facilities
  • Support incident/accident investigations when required
  • Handle all data in line with Data Protection regulations
  • Maintain Level 1 security competence standards

  • Previous warehouse or cargo experience (desirable but not essential)
