Maintenance Technician – uPVC Carpenter

Contract Type

Permanent, Full Time – 40 hours per week

£41,200 per annum

North London

Working Pattern

Monday to Friday, generally 8:00am – 5:00pm

Working Arrangement

Mobile / Field Based – company van provided

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Multi-Trader / uPVC Carpenter to join a busy Reactive Maintenance Team working across North London.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of repairs and maintenance works in residents' homes, with a particular focus on uPVC windows, doors, glazing and associated carpentry works.

This is a mobile, customer-facing role. You will start your working day from home and travel directly to jobs assigned through a handheld PDA device.

Working Area

The primary working area covers parts of North London, including:

  • Hackney
  • Islington
  • Kensington & Chelsea
  • Barnet
  • Enfield

Although you will be allocated a primary area, you may occasionally be required to work across the wider region to support service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out internal and external window repairs.
  • Repairing and maintaining uPVC windows.
  • Working on both single and double-glazed units.
  • Carrying out repairs to doors.
  • Undertaking lock replacements, refits and repairs.
  • Completing general carpentry repairs associated with windows and doors.
  • Carrying out a range of multi-trade maintenance tasks.
  • Diagnosing faults and identifying appropriate repair solutions.
  • Completing work efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Aiming to achieve a right-first-time service and minimise follow-on works.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with health and safety requirements.
  • Maintaining a clean and professional working environment within residents' homes.
  • Providing excellent customer service and acting as a professional first point of contact for residents.
  • Managing allocated jobs using a PDA / handheld device.
  • Working independently while also supporting the wider maintenance team when required.

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this position, you should have:

  • Proven experience in a similar maintenance, uPVC, carpentry or multi-trade role.
  • Strong practical trade knowledge and experience.
  • Experience working within a maintenance, housing, construction or property environment.
  • Good knowledge and practical experience of uPVC window and door repairs.
  • Carpentry skills and experience.
  • Experience with glazing and window repairs.
  • Experience carrying out door and lock repairs.
  • A broad range of multi-trade maintenance skills.
  • A strong commitment to health and safety.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • A right-first-time approach to repairs.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.
  • The ability to work across different locations and adapt to changing priorities.

Working Hours & Benefits

The standard working hours are generally Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

There may also be opportunities to earn additional income through call-outs and out-of-hours work, where applicable.
