Carpenter/ Joiner - HMP Onley
Standard Hours of Work 39 hours per week, across 7 days, covering 1 in 3 weekends with a 15% allowance of basic salary.
Base Salary Between £30,866 - £36,135 depending on experience.
About Amey At Amey, we support His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing safe, clean, and efficient prisons. Using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.
Role Overview The Carpenter & Joiner ensures planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out safely, compliantly, and timely.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
- Carry out joinery work including repairing doors, windows, signposts, formwork, and other bespoke timber items.
- Responsible for joinery workshop maintenance of machines, statutory inspections, housekeeping, and cleanliness.
- Organise and plan daily work with the supervisor, recording and submitting all details of work carried out on relevant works orders.
- Measure and quote for works.
- Order materials.
- Maintain stock of Building Maintenance materials.
- Support both local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner as appropriate.
- Handle all other reasonable requests as determined by your line manager.

Requirements
- Level 2 or 3 in Joinery & Carpentry.
- Manual tool handling.
- Ladder use.
