Role Description
This is a contract, on-site Carpenter or Joiner role based in East London. The Carpenter or Joiner will install, repair, and maintain fire-rated doors, frames, and associated joinery in residential and commercial properties, ensuring compliance with current fire safety and building regulations. Daily tasks include reading and interpreting technical drawings, taking accurate measurements, fabricating and fitting doors and joinery components, and using appropriate tools and materials to achieve high-quality finishes. The role involves inspecting existing installations for defects, completing remedial works, documenting findings, and working closely with fire safety assessors, site managers, and clients to deliver safe and compliant outcomes. The Carpenter or Joiner will also follow all health and safety procedures, maintain a clean and organized work area, and represent Expyro professionally on client sites.

- Strong carpentry and joinery skills, including installation of doors, frames, architraves, and associated hardware.
- Proven experience working with fire-rated doors and an understanding of relevant UK fire safety and building regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and compliance documentation.
- Competent in the safe use of hand and power tools, with a focus on precision, quality, and site safety.
- Relevant trade qualification or apprenticeship in Carpentry/Joinery, or equivalent on-site experience.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to complete remedial works to a high standard.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work professionally with clients and site teams.
- Full right to work in the UK and willingness to travel across East London and nearby areas as required.
- Experience working in occupied properties or social housing environments is beneficial.
- Valid CSCS card and knowledge of health and safety practices on construction sites.
