We're looking for an experienced Site Carpentry Tutor / Vocational Trainer to join our team at HMP Millsike, delivering City & Guilds qualifications up to Level 3 and helping learners develop the practical skills, knowledge and confidence they need to progress into employment.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Carpenter, Joiner, Site Carpenter or Construction professional who is ready to take their career in a different direction and use their industry experience to make a genuine difference.
What you'll be doing
- Deliver engaging practical and theory-based training in Site Carpentry up to Level 3
- Develop learners' skills across areas including framing, joisting, roofing and general site carpentry
- Promote excellent health & safety, including safe working at height and the correct use of tools and equipment
- Support learners with literacy, numeracy and digital skills alongside their vocational training
- Adapt your teaching to meet individual learning needs and help every learner achieve their potential
- Prepare learners for employment by developing their technical skills, confidence, teamwork and employability
- Work closely with Learning Support Practitioners and prison colleagues to support learner development and rehabilitation
- Complete assessments, ILPs, attendance records and qualification documentation

What we're looking for
We're looking for someone with strong industry experience in site carpentry/construction who can bring their practical knowledge to life in the classroom and workshop.
You don't necessarily need previous experience of working in a prison or education environment - your industry expertise is what matters, and you'll be supported to develop within the role.

- The ability to demonstrate and teach practical skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
