Leicestershire County Council is seeking a dedicated and organised SENA Case Manager to join our Special Educational Needs Assessment Service. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role within a busy statutory service, supporting children, young people and families across Leicestershire through the SEND assessment, planning and review process.
About the Role
As a SENA Case Manager, you will manage a caseload of children and young people, ensuring high-quality statutory assessment, planning and review activity in line with SEND legislation, the SEND Code of Practice and local policies.

This key role involves:
- Managing a caseload of children and young people with SEND, ensuring timely delivery of statutory assessment, planning and review processes
- Coordinating Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments and drafting high-quality, outcome-focused Education, Health and Care Plans
- Analysing and interpreting advice from education, health and care professionals, alongside the views of children, young people and families
- Working collaboratively with parents/carers, schools, colleges and partner agencies to support effective communication and co-production
- Attending and contributing to Annual Reviews, ensuring recommendations are appropriately considered and progressed
- Supporting the consultation process with education providers and contributing to placement decisions in line with identified needs and local authority processes
- Preparing casework documentation for SEND Panels, including funding requests, amendments and placement considerations
- Contributing to mediation and SEND Tribunal processes, including preparing documentation
- Maintaining accurate records and using IT systems effectively to support case management and statutory Compliance
- Supporting safeguarding responsibilities by working in partnership with relevant agencies to promote the wellbeing of children and young people
- Working flexibly within a team to manage competing priorities and contribute to a high-quality, responsive service

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
