The Appointeeship and Deputyship team is looking for two new Case Officer colleagues to join our busy and supportive team in supporting vulnerable adults who lack the mental capacity to manage their own finances. These roles would particularly suit those from a banking or benefits background, but we are interested in hearing from anybody who can demonstrate a passion for problem-solving, excellent attention to detail, and experience of managing a client caseload.

About the Role

Our Case Officers safeguard the financial wellbeing of some of our most vulnerable service users, helping them maintain as much independence as possible by:

  • Managing day-to-day finances, from paying bills to selling property.
  • Acting as a Corporate Appointee - ensuring clients receive their full benefit entitlements.
  • Negotiating with external organisations like utility providers, care providers, landlords, and other local authorities.
  • Submitting detailed financial reports to the Office of the Public Guardian.
  • Keeping accurate records and case notes.
  • Playing a key role in ensuring our clients have the best quality of life that they can afford.

An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.

For information on our approach to the recruitment of ex-offenders, please see our policy statement here.

About You

We would like you to be able to demonstrate the following qualities, skills, and experience:

  • Educated to GCSE / NVQ Level 2 or equivalent level of demonstrable and relevant experience of working in a social care, health, or Government finance or administrative field.
  • Substantial relevant experience in managing a caseload and dealing effectively with queries and correspondence from the public. Experience in managing client caseloads and of using financial and data management systems.
  • Professional curiosity and practical problem-solving abilities and knowledge of Adult Social Care and Welfare Benefits. Basic knowledge of national Adult Social Care policy and law, state benefits, and pensions.
  • High standards of both written and verbal communication.
  • Experience of working independently, with integrity and accountability, under minimal supervision.
  • Awareness of the obligations of an Appointee and Deputy. Substantial experience in interpreting and communicating complex information.
  • Understanding of and commitment to Equal Opportunities, the Equality Act 2010, confidentiality, and GDPR.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
