Overview
The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a Casework / Administrator to a Political Group within Legal & Democratic Services. This role offers an excellent opportunity to provide professional, flexible and high-quality administrative and casework support to elected Group Members, helping to ensure the smooth and effective operation of their day-to-day activities. Reporting to the Team Leader - Group Office, the postholder will work closely with Councillors, supporting their responsibilities and maintaining a professional and responsive service to both internal and external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing correspondence, preparing documentation, handling enquiries and coordinating administrative processes for the Group Office. Acting as a central point of contact, you will respond to telephone and written enquiries, assist with casework and research, and help brief Members on key local and national developments. The role requires a high level of organisation, attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, while working independently and responding flexibly to changing priorities.

This is a varied and rewarding position that involves liaising with Councillors, officers and members of the public, ensuring a professional and welcoming service at all times. You will also support the continuous improvement of office procedures, maintain records and systems, and contribute to the effective running of the Group Office. The ideal candidate will be organised, proactive and politically aware, with strong communication skills and a commitment to delivering an efficient and reliable support service.

- Previous administrative or office-based experience, ideally within a public sector or political environment
- A good understanding of local government structures and political awareness
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work and manage multiple tasks independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders
- A polite, patient and professional approach when dealing with Members, colleagues and the public
