The Finance Team Manager Role
The Finance Team Manager role is a key position in the Control & Risk team and is key to delivering a Finance Centre of Excellence based in one location in Warrington.
You will play a key role in a Finance Centre of Excellence (CoE) because you’ll sit at the intersection of liquidity management, financial control, operational efficiency, and risk management. While many finance programmes focus on reporting and analytics, cash remains the lifeblood of the organisation, making effective banking and cash operations critical to business performance.
You will lead and manage all banking and cash operation activities, ensuring optimal liquidity management, accurate cash reporting, robust financial controls, and effective relationships with banking partners. The role also supports the organisation's working capital objectives and provides strategic oversight of cash flow, treasury operations, and banking services.

- Oversee daily cash positioning across all bank accounts.
- Monitor liquidity requirements and ensure sufficient funding is available to meet operational needs.
- Identify opportunities to improve cash utilisation and reduce borrowing costs.

- Lead bank account administration, including opening, closing, and maintenance of accounts.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
