Introduction to Citi Markets

At Citi Markets, we win together. In a rapidly changing world, our shared vision gives us the clarity, agility and global perspectives we need to shape the future. That's why collaboration plays a central role in how we deliver for clients, develop our people, and grow our business. Our equities franchise operates at a uniquely global scale, serving a remarkably varied client base across developed and emerging markets.

We're not the finished article—we have big ambitions for the future and all the resources we need to reach them, including some of the smartest people in the industry. Whatever the opportunity, our people bring expertise, insight and an honest desire to help one another.

Role/Team Overview

This is a high-impact, revenue-generating position at the heart of Citi's Cash Equities platform. As a Sales Trader covering US institutional clients across both Developed European and Emerging markets, you'll operate as a hybrid Sales/Trading professional acting as the primary execution point for sophisticated institutional investors while generating commission, sourcing liquidity, and serving as a strategic conduit into Citi's equity markets franchise.

This is a role where collaboration is paramount. You'll work across Prime, Generalist and Specialist Sales, Trading, Delta One, Equity Capital Markets, and Derivatives teams to deliver cross-product content, generate actionable ideas, and provide market intelligence that shapes client decision-making. Your ability to find liquidity, execute complex trades, and build trusted relationships in a dynamic, fast-paced environment will define your success. At Citi, there's no arrogance, no politics—just leaders at every level looking for ways to work together, learn from each other, and constantly improve.

What you'll do

  • Serve as the primary execution contact for US institutional clients—including hedge funds, asset managers, pension funds, and insurance companies—across developed European and emerging markets equities. Build deep, trusted relationships underpinned by market expertise, transparency, and responsiveness.
  • Proactively identify and provide liquidity for client order flow, leveraging Citi's global trading network and market-making capabilities. Execute complex, large-scale trades efficiently while managing risk and optimizing execution quality.
  • Develop and communicate actionable investment ideas, thematic insights, and cross-asset trading strategies. Collaborate with Research, Trading, and Structuring teams to deliver differentiated content that drives client engagement and revenue.
  • Work seamlessly across Prime Finance, Delta One, Equity Derivatives, and Equity Capital Markets to provide holistic solutions. Identify opportunities for product cross-sell and ensure clients benefit from Citi's full suite of equity offerings.
  • Gather, synthesize, and disseminate market colour and client flow information to internal stakeholders. Contribute to desk strategy, positioning, and risk management discussions with a client-centric perspective.
  • Drive profitability through intelligent pricing, volume growth, and value-add execution. Manage client P&L impact and align trading activity with commercial objectives.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
