About the role:
We are looking for an accountant to provide accounts payable, but also some cash management, support to several key re/insurance entities and service companies within the Munich Re Group. This is an exciting opportunity for an accountant looking to work in a supportive team providing accounting services to entities generating c. £3.7bn premium and growing. The role is a FTC position (12 months) to cover for parental leave.
Key responsibilities:
Accounts payable:
- Process vendor invoices using COUPA procure to pay system
- Complete vendor reconciliations
- Report on vendor, bank, customer and other balance sheet open items relevant to the team on a quarterly basis
- Take a lead role in maintaining the team’s shared mailboxes, ensuring queries are responded to in a timely manner. Provide excellent customer service to our stakeholders across the entities we look after
- Ensure staff and company credit card expenses are processed and reviewed in a timely and accurate manner, making use of AI expense checking tools

Cash management:
- Process technical and non-technical payments with efficiency, accuracy and adhering to company policies
- Daily, weekly and quarterly liquidity forecasting and reporting
- Monitor bank accounts and liquidity levels and ensure all reporting requirements to Group are adhered to
- Ensure effective communication with Group companies, investment managers at Group level and all stakeholders
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations

Key Skills & Experience:
- Experience in accounts payable, ideally in a large global organisation in which adherence to Group standards is required
- Excellent customer service skills
- Able to communicate clearly and concisely in person/online and in writing
- Comfortable dealing with employees at all levels of seniority
- Working knowledge of SAP and ideally COUPA
- Experience of applying the correct VAT treatment on transactions
- Proven use of online banking tools
- Microsoft Excel and Word: good level

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
- At least full member of AAT or other equivalent finance recognised qualification
