Role Overview
The CASS Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with the regulatory requirements outlined in the Client Assets Sourcebook CASS 7 Client Money Rules as defined by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, overseeing, and implementing robust processes to safeguard client assets, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to the overall risk management framework.
Responsibilities
CASS Compliance and Oversight
- Monitor and ensure the firm's adherence to the FCA's Client Assets Sourcebook CASS 7 Client Money Rules.
- Ensure appropriate CASS policies, procedures & controls are maintained and operated effectively.
- Manage and oversee the daily internal and external CASS reconciliations using the Grath system ensuring reconciliation accuracy, timely completion, and prompt investigation of exceptions.
- Maintain a full understanding of business activities and implication on CASS policies.
- Conduct regular reviews and assessments to identify areas for improvement in CASS compliance and daily CASS reconciliations.
- Oversee Risk Control Self Assessments with the internal Risk Function to identify operational risk considerations in relation to CASS 7 and related functions/processes.
- Act as primary point of contact with external auditors coordinating responses on all CASS audit matters.
Client Asset Safeguarding
- Implement robust processes to effectively safeguard client assets in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure segregation and protection of client funds.
- Resolve and mitigate potential risks identified via related Internal and External audits ensuring CASS compliance. Implement measures to mitigate risks identified.

Governance & Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to client assets, transactions, reconciliations, relevant CASS documentation along with filing relevant FCA returns and CMAR reporting.
- Managing the strategic focus and day-to-day activities of CASS.
- Produce and develop appropriate and effective MI and KPIs that provide governance bodies, including Audit Committee and Directors with the status of CASS compliance.
- Develop and maintain key CASS documentation e.g. CASS Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), CASS Resolution Pack and CASS Policy documents.
- CASS leadership of key operational issues- identifying, escalating, and resolving all CASS incidents including challenge to root cause, remedial and prevention steps.
Internal Training and Awareness
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of CASS 7 rules and associated industry changes.
- Provide training to staff on CASS regulations and compliance requirements.
- Foster a culture of awareness and accountability for CASS compliance throughout the organisation and as part of formal committee governance framework.
- Assisting operational teams with the procedural enhancements and reviews to stop breaches at source.
Qualifications
Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, or related field.
Experience
- In-depth knowledge of the FCA's Client Assets Sourcebook (CASS 7) regulations.
- Proven experience in a similar role within the financial services industry, ideally within CFD trading.
- Relevant certifications in compliance with SMCR and CASS Oversight FCA registration.

- Strong demonstrable knowledge of CASS 7 rules.
- Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office, external banking, and internal ledger systems.
- An analytical mind, with good attention to detail and great problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy.
Personal Specifications
- Proven experience of operating in a CASS compliance, audit, and/or operational oversight role with an in-depth understanding of the client asset sourcebook rules.
- Strong technical ability to understand and assess how CASS is relevant across all areas of the business.
- Ability to analyse, present, and report complex regulatory information to senior stakeholders in a clear and concise manner including strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience managing CASS Junior.
- Drive and enthusiasm - a genuine desire to assist the business.
- Experience with general ledger and subsidiary ledger processing and related controls.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- A positive attitude and good team-work skills.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Good at relationship building and influencing.
- Conscientious with attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and deliver output.
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements and a commitment to improve the effectiveness of process.
