We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed class teacher to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children's learning and development within a caring and supportive Trust. The successful candidate will inspire confidence, curiosity and a love of learning, while creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child is supported to thrive and achieve their potential. This is a full time, fixed term position, working Monday to Friday.
Kernow Learning is a multi-academy trust of 21 primary schools in Cornwall. We believe that our trust is at the precipice of something great; through a mix of collective synchronicity and autonomy, our schools are working together to provide strength so that they can stretch their offer beyond expectations in their drive for excellence. Our English Hub supports schools across Cornwall to secure children’s early reading, whilst our Teaching School Hub, as a partner in One Cornwall, provides services to schools across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in relation to areas such as the Early Career Framework and National Professional Qualifications.
The successful candidate will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Inspire children to develop confidence, curiosity and a love of learning.
- Have high expectations for all pupils and a commitment to helping every child achieve their potential.
- Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching that supports strong progress and positive outcomes.
- Create an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment where children feel safe, valued and supported.
- Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
- Work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team and contribute to the wider life of the school.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
- Share our commitment to safeguarding, promoting the welfare of children and supporting their wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality learning experiences that engage and support all pupils.
- Assess, monitor and record pupil progress, using assessment information to inform teaching and learning.
- Create a positive learning environment.
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including pupils with SEND.
- Build positive partnerships with parents, carers and colleagues to support pupil achievement and wellbeing.
- Contribute to curriculum development and the wider life of the school.
- Participate fully in professional development, school events and team collaboration as required.
- Uphold the school's values and fulfil the professional duties set out in the Teachers' Standards.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people.

Our School: Beacon is a primary school and nursery for children aged 3 to 11 years, with an Area Resource Base for pupils from the age of 4. We hope that children will join us from the age of 3, when they can enjoy our fantastic outdoor nursery, and then thrive through each year group up to Year 6. At the end of Year 6, we say goodbye to our confident, well-rounded young people as they move on to secondary school equipped with the skills they need to succeed in the next stage of their education and beyond. We are incredibly proud that Beacon is the only accredited Talk for Writing Training Centre in the South West.
