Cassandra Experienced Data Engineer Needed!

I'm currently supporting one of my investment banking clients who are looking to bring on a Data Engineer on an initial 6 month contract with scope of extension with Cassandra experience. The role will require 2-3 days a week in the London office with my client being able to pay up to £700 per day inside IR35.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and maintain Apache Cassandra clusters, including keyspace design, replication strategies and partitioning models.
  • Develop and optimise data models aligned to query patterns (denormalization, partition key design, avoiding hotspots and wide partitions).
  • Performance tuning: compaction strategies, consistency levels, read/write path optimisation, JVM/GC tuning.
  • Manager cluster operations: node additions/decommissions, repairs (node tool), backups and disaster recovery.
  • Monitor cluster health using tools such as Prometheus/Grafana, OpsCenter, or equivalent.
  • Support CQL query development and advice application teams on best-practice access patterns.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams on hardening, encryption (at rest/in transit) and authentication/authorisation (RBAC).
  • Produce technical documentation including data models, runbooks, and operational procedures.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
