Under instruction from colleagues and following appropriate training, undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Customer Service: Provide friendly, efficient service to all customers and address any concerns or inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Beverage Preparation: Prepare and serve a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Payment: Accurately handle transactions, process payments, and operate point-of-sale systems efficiently.
  • Health, Safety and Cleanliness: Monitor and maintain Health & Safety, food safety (including mandatory documented food allergen requirements), cleanliness and organisation of the bar area and bar related equipment. Correct and report detail of non-compliance to the Food & Beverage Service Head and College Bar & Retail Committee.
  • Stock Replenishment: Monitor and replenish bar stock, ensuring adequate supplies are available during operating hours.
  • Compliance: Monitor and maintain all requirements relating to the sale / supply of alcohol, the licensing act, the premises’ license, and bar handbook. Correct and report detail of non-compliance to the Food & Beverage Service Head and College Bar & Retail Committee.
  • Supervisory Duties: Oversee and coordinate the activities of bar staff, to ensure efficient service and adherence to established standards, and all daily / weekly tasks are completed.
  • Training and Development: Onboard new bar staff using standard operating procedures.
  • Beverage Management: Monitor stock levels, communicate stock ordering requirements to the operational lead, and ensure stock rotation to minimise waste.
  • Training: Complete all related training and required learning and train new bar staff on procedures, and service standards. Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to enhance performance and skill development.
  • End of Day: Ensure the premises is secured at the end of the shift and hand over all relevant detail to the on-duty Residential Service Assistant.
  • Other: Complete other reasonable requests from the Vice Principal, Food & Beverage Service Head or the College Bar & Retail Committee.
