About the Role
The Portsmouth Marriott is looking for Casual Bar Staff to deliver friendly, efficient, and high-quality bar service to guests across our Cast Iron Bar & Grill and hotel events. Located near famous landmarks such as the Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth Marriott offers a welcoming hospitality environment with a range of amenities including our signature restaurant and fitness centre.
The Portsmouth Marriott Hotel provides exceptional, personal, and friendly service while catering to a wide variety of guests, from hotel residents and restaurant diners to conference and event attendees.

What You’ll Do As Casual Bar Staff
- Prepare and serve a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to Marriott standards
- Welcome guests warmly, take orders accurately, and provide friendly, professional service
- Operate the till, process cash and card payments, and follow company procedures
- Check identification and follow responsible alcohol service and licensing requirements
- Keep the bar area clean, organized, safe, and well stocked throughout service
- Replenish stock, glassware, garnishes, and supplies as needed
- Clear glasses, support table service, and assist with restaurant, bar, and event operations when required
- Communicate guest requests, allergens, or service issues promptly to the wider team
- Follow health, safety, hygiene, and security procedures at all times
- Support colleagues to deliver a smooth and enjoyable guest experience during busy shifts

What We’re Looking For In Casual Bar Staff
- A positive, welcoming approach and a passion for great guest service
- Strong communication skills and confidence working as part of a team
- Reliability, good timekeeping, and the ability to stay calm in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail when preparing drinks, handling payments, and following procedures
- Flexibility to work casual shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
- Previous bar, restaurant, or hospitality experience is helpful but not essential, as training will be provided

Contract Details
A casual contract provides excellent flexibility, allowing you to share your availability and work shifts that support the needs of the business. Depending on demand, you may be added to the rota for bar, restaurant, or event shifts, giving you the opportunity to earn while working around other commitments.
