Job Summary

Liverpool Cathedral is the largest cathedral in Britain and the fifth largest in the world. Through exploring our vast space we give people a sense of what it means to ’encounter Liverpool Cathedral’, whether that is through our daily worship services filled with inspiring music and quiet reflection, or our large-scale art installations and family activities.

Liverpool Cathedral hosts over 365 events per year and is one of the city’s largest events venues can expect a diverse range of events including gala dinners, graduations and awards ceremonies. We are looking for people to join our team on a casual basis to assist with events, visitor services, and operational logistics, including supporting events as well as day-to-day cathedral operations. Working under the direction of the Front-of-House Manager, Events Manager and/or Operations Manager you will be assisting the cathedral’s team of front of house staff, Vergers, General Assistants and Cleaners.

Key Responsibilities

Events/Front of House/Operations

  • Represent Liverpool Cathedral in a helpful and positive manner to members of the public and corporate customers
  • Supporting Front of House with Visitor relations including helping with general enquiries and asking / receiving donations from the public
  • Assist with event logistics and activities by agreed deadlines and work confidently alone or within a team
  • Contribute to set ups and derigs as instructed, including stage builds and set out of chairs as required.
  • Ensure that equipment and sundries are cleared away and stored in their assigned place on derig of an event or activity
  • Monitor and maintain the appearance and presentation of Liverpool Cathedral (including the removal of all rubbish to the designated collection point as required), dealing with any problems immediately where possible, and reporting any major issues to the duty manager.
  • Supporting the upkeep and presentation of the Cathedral, assisting members of the cathedral’s team of cleaners or undertaking cleaning when required.

Health and Safety

  • Be vigilant that all areas of the Cathedral accessible to staff, visitors & contractors are maintained in a safe and secure manner and that any hazards, defects or security issues are reported to the Operations Manager, Senior Events Manager, H&S Manager or other member of Management.
  • Be aware of your own health and safety and that of others.
  • Follow all procedures and wear appropriate clothing especially regarding safety footwear.

The post holder will undertake other relevant duties as may be requested from time to time and commensurate with the role.

The post holder must be in sympathy with the aims and ethos of the Church of England and to fully support the Mission and Values of Liverpool Cathedral.
