About the Role
The Facilities Management Team at Lancashire County Council are looking to recruit a Casual Cleaning Operative who is required to carry out cleaning duties in the Rossendale area.
A flexible approach to work is required, as the successful candidate would be required to cover sickness, holidays or provide support to meet additional service demands. Providing your own transport is an advantage, but not essential.
The Facilities Management team is responsible for some of the most prestigious and iconic buildings in Lancashire. These buildings provide essential services to the community and vulnerable people. Keeping these buildings clean is essential to everyone who use these facilities.
High standards of cleanliness are expected, and prior experience is desirable; however full training and ongoing support will be provided.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
