About the School

The Perse School Cambridge is one of the country's leading independent co-educational day schools for children aged 3-18.

Our aim is to be a leading employer of choice. This means we strive to be a school where staff say they are proud and excited to work, and feel valued, respected, and motivated.

At Pelican School, we are committed to fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and child-centred environment where every child feels valued, supported, and able to thrive. Our approach prioritizes emotional well-being, resilience, recognizing the importance of early intervention, and strong partnerships with families and staff.

About the Role

The Perse Pelican School is looking for an experienced Casual Cover Teaching Assistant to join the Pelican Team. The Cover Teaching Assistant will be expected to work alongside teachers and teaching assistants across the Pelican from Nursery (3-4 years old) to Year 2. They will assist in the classroom, working with groups of children and offering support to individual pupils as directed. They may also be expected to work in our before and/or after-school club (Larks and Owls) from 8 am to 5:30 pm. The Cover Teaching Assistant may be given considerable notice of cover required for courses or pre-planned absence, or may be called upon at short notice for staff illness.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
