Job Description

Casual Health & Fitness Instructor

Location: Dumfries

Salary: Band 5 £15.35 per hour


We’re looking for enthusiastic, friendly and motivated Fitness Instructors to join the team here at DG1.

Whether you’re an experienced fitness professional, recently qualified and want to get your foot in the door or simply looking for a fun and rewarding role alongside your current job, this could be a great opportunity for you.

As a Casual Fitness Instructor, you’ll help us provide cover for annual leave and sickness while becoming an important part of our fitness team. This role is a fantastic way to put your qualifications into practice and build your confidence in a real fitness environment. You’ll gain experience in a variety of areas, and you’ll be supported by an experienced team while developing the practical skills and experience that can help you take the next step in your fitness career.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver fun and engaging group fitness classes.
  • Welcome and support members, helping them get the most from their time at DG1.
  • Provide fitness programs and guidance.
  • Carry out gym inductions for new members.
  • Supervise the gym floor, creating a safe, clean and welcoming environment.
  • Help customers improve their exercise technique and build confidence.
  • Motivate and encourage customers to reach their fitness and wellbeing goals.
  • Work alongside a friendly team to deliver a great experience for everyone who walks through our doors.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is positive, approachable and genuinely enjoys helping people. You’ll be confident working with a wide range of customers and able to make people feel welcome, supported and motivated. You’ll also be comfortable working independently.

Great customer service is important to us, so you’ll need to be friendly, outgoing and passionate about creating a positive experience for our members.

Basic IT skills are useful, as our Legend Leisure Management System plays an important part in the day-to-day running of our fitness programme.

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
