Job Description
The Blavatnik School of Government is looking for enthusiastic and reliable casual hospitality staff to join our team on a zero-hours basis.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking for flexible hospitality work within a prestigious university environment. Shifts will be offered according to business and event requirements and may include early mornings, daytime, evenings, and occasional weekends.
The School hosts a wide variety of high-profile events, including breakfast meetings, working lunches, buffet lunches, conferences, drinks receptions, private dining, formal dinners, and VIP hospitality.

As a Casual Hospitality Assistant, you will work alongside the Hospitality Supervisor and Manager, supporting our operations team, chefs, and events team to deliver seamless service and an excellent guest experience.
You will help create a welcoming and professional environment for students, academics, clients, visitors, senior guests, and global leaders from around the world.
Qualifications
Previous experience in hospitality, catering, events, restaurants, hotels, bars, or customer service is preferred, although a positive attitude and willingness to learn are equally important.
You should have:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- A professional, positive, and approachable manner.
- The ability to work confidently with colleagues, clients, visitors, and guests.
- A reliable and supportive approach to teamwork.
- The ability to remain calm and professional in a busy, fast-paced event environment.
- Confidence in using initiative and completing tasks without always requiring direction.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a wider hospitality team.
- Flexibility to work different types of shifts according to event requirements.
- Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high presentation and service standards.
- A willingness to learn different areas of hospitality service, including food service, bar service, coffee service, event set-up, and clearing down.

Additional Information
We are looking for people who are reliable, flexible, professional, and genuinely enjoy hospitality.
You will be joining a busy events operation where no two shifts are necessarily the same. One shift could involve setting up and serving a breakfast meeting, while another could involve a conference, drinks reception, VIP event, or formal dinner.
