The Role and College of St Hild & St Bede
We are offering the opportunity to a current Hild Bede student to assume the role of our Alumni Relations Intern. The post holder will support our Alumni Development Officer, Steph Maurel, in delivering a range of alumni engagement around communications, events, and fundraising activities. The role involves creating and managing engaging social media content and promoting alumni news, events, and student achievements across digital platforms.
The successful candidate will assist in the planning and delivery of alumni events and reunions, including research into venues, catering, and event resources, as well as providing on-the-day event support. They will also contribute to fundraising campaigns by creating promotional content such as videos, student testimonials, and other marketing materials that demonstrate the impact of alumni support. Working collaboratively with the Alumni Development Officer, the intern will help strengthen relationships with alumni and encourage ongoing engagement with the college community. The role has strategic importance supporting our 5 year plan of activities around involvement, engagement, and fund-raising which supports the experience of current students.
We have three areas of focus this year:
- Creating engaging and accessible pathways for students at the point of graduation to connect with the alumni community and stay connected
- Re-launching the Alumni Association as a mentoring programme bringing together alumni and students with a focus around career advice
- Establishing a programme of stewardship and social events at which alumni, and especially current and prospective supporters, can meet students who have and might benefit from their support.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
