ROLE OVERVIEW

The Casual Retail Assistant is responsible for conducting front-line selling efforts, driving sales revenue, and creating memorable shopping experiences for members and supporters at elite sporting precincts. Working on a casual schedule that includes days, nights, weekends, and Game Days, this role demands professionalism, strong communication, and a genuine passion for Australian elite sports. The Casual Retail Assistant (Supporter Experience Officer) delivers business and fan impact through BOLD leadership and execution excellence, leveraging data, automation, and AI-enabled insights.

Team & Leadership Impact (Build Championship Teams)

  • Collaborate with fellow retail team members to maintain a cohesive, high-performing store environment during high-traffic game days and events.
  • Support management directives and contribute to a winning team culture by taking ownership of assigned tasks and stepping in where needed.
  • Communicate openly with peers and supervisors to share product knowledge, surface customer feedback, and help solve floor-level challenges.

Fan & Customer Impact (Obsessed with Fans)

  • Greet members, fans, and customers warmly, asking thoughtful questions to understand their needs and make their shopping experience enjoyable and memorable.
  • Provide tailored product recommendations based on observations and conversations, helping fans connect with Team and League merchandise that resonates with them.
  • Execute a seamless brand connection by upholding the highest standards of customer service so that both the Fanatics brand and the relevant Team or League are always positively represented.
  • Seek opportunities to improve average transaction value by identifying upsell and add-on moments that genuinely enhance the customer experience.

Innovation & Problem Solving (Limitless Entrepreneurial Spirit)

  • Demonstrate curiosity and adaptability when navigating the fast-paced, ever-changing demands of a retail environment within an elite sporting precinct.
  • Identify and act on opportunities to improve floor layouts, stockroom organisation, and transaction flow to reduce friction for fans.
  • Proactively build and deepen product knowledge of Team and League inventory to provide informed, confident recommendations that elevate the fan experience.
  • Overcome obstacles and unexpected challenges with a positive, can-do attitude, finding practical solutions without disrupting the customer experience.

Ownership & Execution (Determined & Relentless Mindset)

  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently via the Fanatics Point of Sale (POS) system, maintaining pace during peak periods such as game days.
  • Maintain impeccable sales floor and stockroom standards, including housekeeping, cleanliness, and stock organisation, with a strong eye for detail.
  • Strive to meet and exceed individual and team sales targets by staying focused, energised, and engaged across every shift.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as directed by the management team, demonstrating reliability and a willingness to contribute wherever the business needs support.

CAPABILITIES & EXPERIENCE YOU BRING

Required Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a retail or sales environment is preferred, with a demonstrated ability to engage customers and drive revenue in a fast-paced setting.
  • Availability to work a casual schedule including days, nights, weekends, and extended hours on game days and during events.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team while servicing a diverse fan base with professionalism and enthusiasm.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly and make genuine connections with members, fans, and customers.
  • High standards of organisation, cleanliness, and attention to detail to maintain sales floor and stockroom presentation at all times.
  • A fun, professional demeanour and a proven ability to maintain a positive, can-do attitude when overcoming obstacles in a busy environment.
  • A genuine interest in AFL and the broader Australian elite sports landscape, with the motivation to build deep product knowledge of Team and League inventory.

On-site: Your work location will be onsite in the Richmond Store.
