About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Cataloguing and Subscriptions Librarian to join our Library & Archive department at the RAD Headquarters in Battersea. In this key permanent role, you will be responsible for managing serials and subscriptions, resource cataloguing and classification, and helping deliver high-quality information services to dance scholars, researchers, students, and the global public. You will play a vital role in keeping our collections accessible, supporting user research, and assisting with day-to-day library operations.
Please note home-working is not available for this role, and there are some short periods where annual leave is unable to be granted.
Key Responsibilities
- Cataloguing & Classification: Prepare and maintain catalogue records for print, digital, and AV materials using Liberty software, in-house classification schemes, and Universal Decimal Classification.
- Subscriptions & Serials: Monitor print and digital subscriptions, manage access and binding, promote online resources, and work within set budgets.
- Library & Information Services: Handle research enquiries from distance-learning students and external researchers, cover the Welcome Desk, and guide users on search techniques and copyright compliance.
- Training & Community: Conduct engaging library inductions and refresher sessions (both in-person and online), create video user guides, and host RAD Book Club sessions.
- Operations & Cover: Assist with circulation duties, update database records, and cover scheduled late-night openings or team members when required.

What We Are Looking For
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- An appropriate Library qualification (or equivalent practical experience) with demonstrable experience in library cataloguing, classification, and managing serials databases.
- Strong proficiency in library management systems, electronic information services, Microsoft Office, and screen capture tools for producing video guides.
- Excellent verbal and written English skills, with the confidence to lead group inductions, present on camera, and deliver outstanding customer service.
- High levels of accuracy, meticulous attention to detail, and sound knowledge of standard cataloguing and classifying conventions.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while demonstrating self-motivation, proactivity, and the ability to work independently.
